About Your Practitioner

To become a registered Member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists, I completed a rigorous four-year training programme which encompassed not only knowledge and use of medicinal plants, but also the basic disciplines of primary health care, such as anatomy, physiology, pathology, medicine, medical laboratory science, nutrition, pharmacology and clinical diagnosis. The program also involved a minimum of 500 hours supervised clinical training and a final clinical examination.

Qualified Herbalists may also hold the academic qualification indicated by MCPP (Membership of the College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy). I also have a Diploma in Phytotherapy (Dip.Phyt), and a member of the Herb Society.

As well as my Herbal Qualifications, I have studied Biomedical Science in London, specialising in Clinical Chemistry, and became a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (FIMBS) in 1984. I have over 25 years experience working in the NHS, which includes time spent at Guy's Hospital, St George's Hospital School of Medicine, Hammersmith Hospital and North Middlesex Hospital. During this time I have worked in various Pathology Departments with involvement in the investigation of renal disease, liver disease, cardiac disease and diabetes and the investigation and monitoring of tumours and endocrine disorders.
